Obituary

Gerald O. Miller, 78, passed away, Sunday, September 10, 2006 at the Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines, where he had resided since 2001. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 16, 2006 at Grace Lutheran Church, 3010 - 52nd Street in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

Gerald Orville Miller was born September 24, 1927 in Fairview, Iowa, the son of Randrup and Margaret (Hansen) Miller. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Gerald had made his home in Des Moines since 1960, where he taught school in the Des Moines Public Schools until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Retired Teachers Association.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wilmina (Van Tubergen) Miller and two brothers, Roger Miller and Norman Miller. He is survived by two sons, Dr. Kevin (Ellen) Miller of Clarendon Hills, Illinois and Rick (Louise) Miller of Hollister, California; seven grandchildren, Christopher Miller, Michelle Miller, Alexander Miller, Elizabeth Aubree Miller, Ashley Miller, Jonathan Miller and Elizabeth Ann Miller; and a sister, Phyllis Skidmore of Whiting, Iowa.

Visitation, with the family present, will be from 7:00-8:30 p.m., Friday, September 15 at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation
