Obituary

Geraldine (Gerry) Gay Langland passed peacefully away on July 16, 2022. Gerry was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Clement and Minnie (Earl) Loth on August 22, 1930. She graduated from Des Moines East High School and Drake University. Gerry was married to Raymond Kinsey Langland for 58 years. Ray preceded her in death. Gerry and Ray had two boys, Kurt Loth Langland who also preceded her in death and Gregory Ray Langland. Gerry is survived by her special friend, Eldon Cole, her daughter-in-law Martha Langland of Yuma, Arizona, three grandsons - Erik Clement Langland and his wife Lori of Yuma, Arizona, Brent James Langland and his wife Martha Almendarez Langland of Portland, Oregon and Joel Steven Langland of Griffith, Indiana and five great-grandchildren - Titus, Samuel, Hannah, Mateo and Paloma Langland.

Gerry worked as a school teacher in the Lamoni, Iowa and Des Moines Public Schools. She was a member of Staves Memorial United Methodist Church and was active in their Lay Ministry and the Staves United Methodist Women. Gerry was very active in The Gideons International East Camp Auxiliary distributing bibles to nursing home workers, dental clinic workers and hospital workers. After retirement Ray and Gerry spent winters living in their beloved trailer and working with the Nomads doing building maintenance and repairs at church camps across the country.

Memorial Services will be held at Staves Memorial United Methodist Church, 2747 E Madison Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa at 10:00 am on October 22, 2022. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials can be given to Staves United Methodist Church or The Gideons International. Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
