Obituary

**Madrid, Iowa** - Harold Dean Olson, a lifelong resident of Madrid, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Harold was born August 16, 1951, the son of Roy and Marie (Rothfus) Olson. He married the love of his life Polly (Jensen) Olson in Madrid on June 14, 1986. Harold dedicated his life to all things farming, embodying the hard work and resilience of the American farmer. In Harold’s early twenties he traveled the world working for Western Geophysical on the ship Western Endeavor as an electrician. After returning home Harold attended and graduated from Iowa State University with an agronomy degree. Along with farming for many years Harold found fulfillment in auctioneering and helping his sons on various projects.

Harold was a devoted husband to Polly and a proud father to his two sons, Nels (Stephany) Olson of Manning Iowa and Anton (Bethany) Olson of Cape Coral Florida. He found immense joy in his grandchildren: Keldi, Aiden, Amos, Axsel, Rylee, Oakley, and Thea. Harold's legacy of love and kindness lives on in each of them.

Harold was known for his faith in Jesus Christ, warm personality, and generous spirit. He was always happy, a friend to everyone he met, and had a heart of gold.

Harold enjoyed staying busy on his farm, fishing, and tinkering with various projects. His greatest joys, however, came from visiting with those he loved, sharing stories, and spreading laughter.

Harold's passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family and friends alike. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered for his kindness, his hard work, and his unwavering love for his family.

He is survived by his wife Polly, his two sons Nels (Stephany) Olson, Anton (Bethany) Olson, his 7 beautiful grandchildren, his mother Marie Olson, his brother Allen (Barbara) Olson, his sisters Marla (Dan) Mowrer, and Paula Olson. He is preceded in death by his father Roy Olson, father-in-law Teddy Jensen, and mother-in-law Colleen Jensen.

A visitation will be held in his honor on Monday July 1st from 5pm-7pm and a private funeral and burial at Fairview Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in memory of Harold's generous spirit.
