Obituary

Harold E. Mindermann, 72, died March 12, 2006 from complications of surgery.

Harold was born December 6, 1933 in Dent, MN to Clarence and Rosa Mindermann. He graduated from Frazee High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He earned a B.S. in Agriculture Ed. from the University of Minnesota. He was president of his fraternity, ALPHA ZETA. After graduation, he spent a year as Asst. County Extension Director in Glencoe, MN. In 1960, he was employed by Iowa Farm Bureau. First as a fieldman, then regional fieldman, Field Service Director and Director of Marketing. , He worked closely with Beef Producers, IA Pork Producers, to which he was named Honorary Pork Producer in 1971, Egg Counsel and Sheep Producers. He initiated the IA State Cook- Out Contest, did meat promotions throughout the state and cooking demonstrations at the Iowa State Fair. He cooked at the governor's mansion and taught the Dominicans proper meat preparations.

He was a charter member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, where he was involved in building the original building. He spent several years on the Perry Lutheran Home Board and was a charter member of the UGCC and served as president. He was a member of ISAE, with a CAE degree. Harold retired from the Farm Bureau in 1994.

After retiring, he revived his catering business, Mindy's BBQ. He used recipes from his demonstrations to publish a cookbook and sold his own brand of chocolates. He loved food, huntin', and fishin', Boys and Girls basketball tournaments and ISU football.

He is survived by his wife, Fritzi; daughters, Wendy (Murray) Muench, Jan (Mike) Antelman; and son, Paul (Julie Curtis) Mindermann; ten grand- children, Tony and Jesse Antelman, Chelsea, Arielle and Kyle Muench and Ashley, Zac, Casey Jo, Steven and Danny Mindermann; four sisters, Evelyn Perrine, Bonnie Homer, Carolyn Kyte (Jim), Marilyn Eggebrect (Jim), and Kathy Kleaver (Harvey); and a brother, Jerry Mindermann (Sharon).

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, with visitation two hours prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Perry Lutheran Home, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society.
