Obituary

Harold Schwartz passed away on September 1, 2007 surrounded by his loving daughters Carole Friedman and Betsy Schwartz.

Harold was born on January 21, 1915 to the late Bernard and Molvina Schwartz.

He is preceded in death by his wife Margy Ginsberg Schwartz of 46 years and his second wife Dorothy Flynn whom he married at age 86.

Harold was a lifetime resident of Des Moines and moved to Austin, Texas in 2001 to be near his family. He graduated from Roosevelt High School where he was extremely proud to be the 1931 Junior Golf Champion. As a scratch golfer for most of his life, Harold loved the golf course! He created the food brokerage business of C & S Brokerage and served as an officer of the National Building Corp. and the Ginsberg Furniture store.

His entire life was filled with many cherished friendships which could be easily understood by his kind and gentle ways. His selfless devotion made him an extraordinarily devoted husband to both Margy and Dorothy and father to Carole and Betsy. After Margy's illness in 1981, Harold was by her side everyday until her death in 1994.

One of his greatest joys in life was being a proud father of Betsy and Carole and grandfather of Jordan, Danielle and Adam Friedman.

One of Harold's most endearing qualities was an incredible sense of humor; even in his last hours of life his quick wit and humor brought joy. Harold was blessed to live a full life and all who knew him were blessed to have been touched by his love.

Harold is also preceded in death by his son-in-law Jeff Friedman, brother Don Schwartz and brother and sister-in-law Betty and Norman Levitt.

Surviving relatives also include his sister and brother-in law Alan and Hazel Garner, Frank and Shirley Garner, and nieces Barbara Leon and Lenore, Marty and Chet Schwartz.

Graveside services will be held at Jewish Glendale Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Tuesday September 4 with Rabbi David Kaufman officiating.
