Hazel Isabelle Mash Findley was 85 years of age when she passed away peacefully at the home of her granddaughter in Oak Harbor, Washington on May 25, 2006.

She was born in Dallas County on April 8, 1921. She was one of Lola and Tom Mash's 13 children with only two sisters surviving her. They are Louise Scott of Tucson and Joanne and Norman Thomas, long time Dallas Center residents. On September 4, 1939, Hazel married Donald Findley. They made their home on a farm ten miles southwest of Winterset, Iowa where they raised their four children before retiring to DeQueen Arkansas.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, ten siblings, her husband, her son Ivan, a grandson Wendell, and a great-granddaughter Nicole. She is survived by her three daughters Julia and John Brooks of New Braunfels, Texas, Kathy and Dan Darms of Laveen, Arizona, and Donna McCallon of Oak Harbor Washington. She was the mother of four, grandmother of 17, great-grandmother of 37, and great-great-grandmother of 24.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, June 29, at Brethren Cemetery near Dallas Center. In case of inclement weather, services will be at the Brandt Chapel in Dallas Center. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family after the service at the Legion Hall in Dallas Center. The family requests no flowers. Donations can be made in Hazel's name to the American Diabetes Association or the Kidney Transplant Association and we can all register as organ donors.
