Heinrich Clay Taylor, Jr., 73, died on December 23, 2005 at Iowa Methodist Hospital after a long illness. Funeral Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at Westover Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at Westover Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.

Heinie was born in Des Moines on April 18, 1932, son of Judge Heinrich C. Taylor and Opal Lorenz Taylor, and spent his childhood in his beloved Bloomfield, Iowa. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1954 with a degree in accounting, and then served as an auditor in the Air Force for two years. He graduated from the University of Iowa Law School in 1959, where he was Editor in Chief of the Iowa Law Review.

Heinie then started a long career in law and business. He was a former partner at the Brody Law Firm, General Counsel and Secretary of Mid-Continent Bottlers, and owner/operator of Taylor Pets, Inc., Taylor Care and a business brokerage firm. He retired in 1996, but then worked for the United States Census for two years. He was active in civic affairs, where he was President of the Des Moines and Iowa Jaycees in 1965 and 1966 and President of The Wakonda Club in 1985. He loved golf and his family and was a life-long fan of University of Iowa athletics.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Elisabeth Taylor; his step-daughter, Erika; his four children, Charles (Debra), Cathryn (Andrew), Christine and Curtis; and nine grandchildren, Laura, John, Rebecca, Robert, Allie, Sarah, Joseph, Amanda and Shane. Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his only brother, Mr. Robert Hotchkiss of Cedar Rapids.
