Obituary

Helen L. Parker, 78, passed away, Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Monday, April 23, at Brandt Funeral Home in Dallas Center, with burial to follow at Brethren Cemetery.

Helen Louise Parker was born March 12, 1929, in Luray, Kansas, the daughter of Charles Albert and Eunice Estella (Parker) Gilbreth. She was united in marriage to Robert Elton Parker on October 16, 1953 in Topeka, Kansas. She made her home in Arkansas City, Kansas and various northeast Kansas communities before moving to Dallas Center in 1995. Helen was an elder in the Community of Christ. She had been the Executive Director of the Senior Citizen's Center in Arkansas City and Director of the Senior Community Center in Dallas Center. She had been involved with several other civic and social organizations.

Helen is survived and lovingly remembered by her children; Dean Davis of Wichita, KS, Richard Kent Parker of Dallas Center, Kristi Williams of Runnells, Laurie White of Tigard, OR, Kendra Williams of Pleasant Hill and Marla Cox of Altoona; three brothers; two sisters and numerous grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; her son, Philip Davis and her husband, Robert.

Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. Sunday at Brandt Funeral Home in Dallas Center, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Helen L. Parker Memorial Fund.
