Helen (Anderson) Lambert, 92, died on Saturday, February 17, at the Kavanagh House on 56th Street in Des Moines from complications of heart disease. No services are planned at this time. She has been cremated and will be buried with her late husband, Paul, in the Veterans section of Glendale Cemetery.

Helen was born on May 10, 1914, in Cambridge, Iowa and grew up in Morganville, Kansas, part of a large and loving Norwegian family. She met Paul Lambert in late 1936 and they were married six weeks later on January 30, 1937, thus beginning a 70-year love story. They were together until the end - Paul died on February 11 of this year. Helen was primarily a homemaker, working part-time at Mary Lester Fabrics in Merle Hay Mall. She even found time to appear as Mrs. Santa Claus during the holidays at the mall. Helen loved spending time with her family, planning family gatherings, cooking, entertaining and enjoying her many friends. For the last 22 years, they lived at Jacobs Place Apartments in Des Moines, where she continued her lifelong joy of sharing good times with her neighbors, planning social events and meeting new friends. Life, to her, was indeed a banquet to savor and enjoy!

She is survived by her son, Ron; and several nieces and nephews, including Lyle, Betty, Mary, Beverly, Paul, Deloris and their families. She introduced her son to the world of theatre by getting him excused from elementary school class (many years ago) to attend a Wednesday matinee of "Hello, Dolly!" - starring Ginger Rogers, at the KRNT Theatre. Always proud and supportive of his continuing work in Des Moines theatre, memorial contributions may be made to StageWest, PO Box 12127, Des Moines, IA. 50312.
