Herbert Rosenberg, 87, died Saturday, April 9, 2005. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Temple B'Nai Jeshurun on Grand Avenue.

Herb was born on August 9, 1917, in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in Maquoketa, Iowa. He attended the University of Iowa, where he met Doloris, his wife of 64 years, and he earned his undergraduate and law degrees.

During World War II, Herb served as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy and saw action on an LCI in the Pacific. After the war, he returned to Des Moines where he practiced law for over 50 years.

He was a member of the Iowa Bar and Polk County Bar Associations. He was an avid golfer and a devoted sports fan, and an active member of Hyperion Field Club.

In addition to his adored wife, Herb is survived by two daughters, Rosalind Rosenberg and Marsha Sullivan; son-in- law, Tim Sullivan; and two grandchildren, Eileen and Hugh Sullivan, all of the Washington, D.C. area; and two sisters, Beatrice Moskowitz and Gertrude Rothschild.
