Herb Keigley passed away on Friday, September 26, 2008 at the Boone County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Napier United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m.

Herbert Theodore Keigley was born September 19, 1925 to Bert L. and Ethel Carpenter Keigley on the family farm in rural Boone County. At age five he was run over by a full wagon of corn during harvest, breaking his back. The next two years were spent at University Hospital in Iowa City, where a leg bone was fused to his back bone.

He attended school at Napier Consolidated School, graduating in 1945. He went on to become a farmer and mechanic. Herb married Beverly Abrahamson on September 17, 1952 in Luther, Iowa. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing and singing country western music, and traveling throughout his life to most of the 50 states, Canada and Mexico.

Herb overcame many medical problems, enjoying a full life that included performing at area nursing homes until suffering a stroke in August 2005. He was a resident of the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone at the time of his death.

Herb is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bev, his daughter Ann, son John (Karla) Keigley and two grandsons, Kyle and Jason.

Herb was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Frances.
