Jacqueline Lee Nagle Thompson, or Jackie as she was called by her loved ones, 75, of Madrid, IA, passed away on July 12, 2020, enveloped in the love of her Lord and Savior. Jackie succumbed to complications from pancreatic cancer while under Hospice Care of Suncrest at the Madrid Home in Madrid, Iowa.

Jackie was born to Orville and Frances “Curly” Nagle on October 11, 1944, in Des Moines, Iowa. Jackie’s family included three siblings. She was preceded in death not only by her parents, but also by her brother, Larry Nagle, and her sister, Judy McConnell.

Jackie graduated from Saydel High School in 1963, taking courses in secretarial and office administration. She was married to David Thompson on October 9, 1965, just shy of her 21st birthday. They lived in Madrid, Iowa, where Jackie ran a thriving in-home daycare business for over 40 years. As of late, Jackie was Co-Director of Greater Love Ministries Food Pantry and Clothing Store with her husband, Dave.

Jackie is survived by her husband, Dave, and her two children, Gregory Thompson (wife Kelly), and Angela Morton (husband Mark). She is also survived by her sister, Janet Hobson (husband Sam) and her five grandchildren: Bryant and Anna Thompson and Jake, Ellie, and Collin Morton.

Jackie showed the love of Jesus to all who knew her - a mission that started when she was born-again at the tender age of four. Whether she was ministering to the youth of the Madrid Evangelical Church’s nursery, Awana, or Senior High youth programs, or helping the families of Boone County at Greater Love, Jackie was anchored in one, simple belief: to guide all who met her to understand the unconditional love of Christ.

Nowhere was this life mission more apparent than in Jackie’s favorite verse, “For the grace of God has been revealed bringing salvation to all people” (Titus 2:11).

A celebration of life service will be on Monday, August 10, at 11 am, at the Madrid Evangelical Free Church with a Visitation on Sunday, August, 9, from 3-5pm, at the Madrid Evangelical Free Church.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in Jackie’s name with all proceeds going to the Madrid Evangelical Youth Camp Scholarship fund.
