Jacqueline Spellman Obituary

Jacqueline Joyce Spellman, 95, passed away August 3, 2024 at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center, Iowa.

Jacqueline was born June 10, 1929, in Granger, Iowa, daughter of Joe and Faye (Smith) Harney. She married Clem Spellman in 1951 and lived her entire life on a farm in the Granger community. She graduated from Assumption High School, Ottumwa Heights and attended the University of Iowa.

Jackie enjoyed watercolor painting, traveling, playing golf, reading, and playing cards. She was a member of Woodward JFA club, Granger Pitch group and several bridge clubs. She was an avid fan of Iowa State University football and basketball. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Granger. During her retirement, Jackie volunteered at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center Gift Shop arranging flowers, was a member of the Dallas County Hospital Foundation Board, Perry Garden Club, and the Des Moines Women’s Club.

Jackie is survived by her daughters, Killeen (Dave) Jensen, Priscilla (Mark) Dolch and Gretchen (Dan) Wilhelmi; her sons, Sam (Julie) Spellman, Joe Spellman and Dale Spellman; her sister, Susan (Bob) Berube; sisters-in-law, Sandy Spellman and Janice Spellman; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clem Spellman and her parents, Joe and Faye Harney.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 9, 2024 at Assumption Catholic Church in Granger. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Iles Brandt Chapel in Dallas Center. Interment, following the service, will be at Beaver Catholic Cemetery, rural Granger.
