Obituary

James "Jay" Dinsmore, 90, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at the New Homestead Care Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 3 at Brandt Funeral Home in Dallas Center. Private family burial at Brethren Cemetery in Dallas Center will be held at a later date.

James was born in Cainsville, MO and moved to Dallas Center in 1948, Johnston in 1968 and Guthrie Center in 1990. He worked for the City of Dallas Center and the State of Iowa as a carpenter at Camp Dodge. Jay enjoyed music, playing the piano and playing cards.

He is survived by his daughter, Joan (Don) Hays of Guthrie Center; sons, Benny (Amy) Dinsmore of Columbus, GA, and Marvin Dinsmore of Des Moines; sisters, Aimee (Irwin) Bishop of Elizabeth, IL, and Elaine (Don) Hein of Rosamond, CA; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elva; brother, Carl of Kansas; sister, Doris Callas; and brother-in-law, Wendell Callas.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Dallas Center Fire Department.
