James Doyle Obituary

James Edward Doyle, 80, Granger, Iowa, died Friday, December 22, 2023 at Mercy Hospital West Lakes, West Des Moines, Iowa. Jim was born September 20, 1943 in Beverly, Massachusetts to John Joseph & Jeannette (LaMontagne) Doyle.

Survivors include wife, Rachelle Lee (Woerne) Doyle; son Sean Edward Doyle and wife Angela (Gartelos) Doyle and their daughter Maeve; daughter Marnette René Doyle and her child Nicolina; brother Lawrence Doyle and wife Kristina (Horyn) Doyle and their 3 children, Jennifer Doyle, Megan (Feinberg) Doyle, and John Doyle with their families; many other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents John & Jeannette (LaMontagne) Doyle, and brother John Thomas Doyle, better known as Jackie.

Jim was an educator by trade, serving in many capacities with Heartland AEA 11. His training and expertise was in speech and hearing sciences, especially hearing impairments. Students, colleagues, friends, and family were recipients of his beautiful smile, joyful laugh, and joking manner. He made learning, and ultimately living, FUN!

Jim also served his chosen home of Granger, Iowa by participating on City Council and other community services. He was ordained as a Deacon for the Catholic Church in 1983.

A Mass of Intention was held at Assumption Catholic Church, 1906 Sycamore, Granger, Iowa 50109, on Sunday, February 4, 2024, 9:00am.

A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Saturday, May 25, 2024, 2:00 pm, Glendale Cemetery Wildflower Scattering Garden, Rock 5, 4909 University Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50311. Park on east road next to area.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s honor be directed to Granger EMT Auxiliary, 1906 Main Street, Granger, Iowa 50109-7721.
