James "Jim" Larson, 83, died at home on Thursday, May 7, 2015, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 PM (Noon) on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Iles Grandview Park Chapel. A graveside service will follow at the Wallace Cemetery, Wick, Iowa, in Warren County.

Jim was born in Bayard, Iowa on December 2, 1931 but lived most of his childhood in Gooselake, IA. While attending college, Jim joined the United States Air Force. He served as a 1st Class Airman Diesel Mechanic in the Korean War. After the Air Force, Jim lived in Des Moines and worked as a mechanic. In 1970 he married Mary Harris and they moved to Cleveland, OH. There they worked together in their own real estate development business, J-Mar Services. They returned to Des Moines in 2003.

Jim was a member of the Ankeny Computer Club and enjoyed his computers, Prairie Meadows and his prized van.

Jim "Pops" is survived by his children, Jim (Lynn) Larson, Richard Larson, James (Sue) Harris, Linda (Craig) McCool, Janice (John) McKinney and Mary Jean (Bill) Gerace; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren; and his brother, Richard (Joyce) Larson. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary; three brothers and a sister.

A special thank you to his wonderful neighbors: Nadine, Bert, Tammy and Nancy, as well as his hospice nurses, Alyssa and Sara and his Home Instead caregivers, Chris and Denise.
