Obituary

Jeanne Moon passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 27th, 2023 at her residence. A small private funeral service with family will take place at a later date.

Jeanne was born on August 31st, 1931 to Thomas Leslie Pouppirt and Rosa Mary Sedgewick in Leavenworth, Kansas. Jeanne was married to her husband Snowden for nearly 70 years, having been married since May 22, 1953. Jeanne was a member of First Baptist Church of Greater Des Moines in Johnston, IA. While active in the Church, she was a devoted member of Martha’s Circle, also volunteering many years at Orchard Place, Salvation Army, and the Blood Center of Central Iowa. Jeanne helped raise eight children over the years. She loved to be called Granny no matter if you were family or not. Jeanne loved tending to her flowers, but her rose bushes were her all-time favorite. She had collected many stamps over her lifetime. She was fond of growing vegetables in the backyard garden and canning them. Jeanne loved taking evening neighborhood walks with her devoted husband after dinner. She loved to bake and had to include a dessert after every meal. While traveling she met some of her best friends on various cruises. Jeanne loved to take drives and listen to her music. She loved playing cribbage with her friends. Day time soap operas were a main source of entertainment for Jeanne. She had a love for sewing, quilting, painting, and crafting up new things. She attended many craft shows around Iowa, and sometimes took her grandchildren along with her. For a portion of her life Jeanne was accompanied by her favorite cat Tiger, she also grew to love her daughter’s and granddaughter's dogs. She has always had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grand-children.

In addition to her husband, Jeanne is survived by her daughter Marsha Sharon (Larry) of Des Moines, IA, grand-daughter Michelle (Randy) of Bondurant, IA, grandson’s Robert Evans of Des Moines, IA, and David Abbott (Faren), of Nashville, TN; her great-grandchildren, Micaela Evans (Carter) - IL, Matthew Evans - Keene, NH, Hannah, Savannah, and Haileigh Evans of Keene, NH; great-great-granddaughter, Raelynn and many extended family members.

A special thanks to all the staff at Ramsey Village Continuing Care Center and St. Croix Hospice team.
