Jeffrey Hopkin Obituary

Jeffrey Wayne Hopkin passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, May 23 at the age of 55. Jeff was born June 28, 1967, in Chariton, Iowa to Wayne and MaryAnn Hopkin. He graduated from Chariton High School in 1985 and then enlisted in the US Army in 1987. Following his military service, he attended Indian Hills Community College and obtained a degree in mechanical engineering drafting in 1998. Jeff married Denise DeMoss on September 3, 1999, and two years later, he experienced the joy of fatherhood when his son, Logan Hopkin, was born. Jeff had various jobs throughout his life and was employed by Hy-Vee and A+ Communications & Security at the time of his death.

Left to mourn his passing, he is survived by his wife of 24 years, Denise DeMoss Hopkin, his son Logan Jeffrey, sister Beth (Wayne) Wiedmann, nephew Jared Wiedmann, and niece Abby Wiedmann. Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Floyd DeMoss, and brother-in-law Steven DeMoss.

Jeff was an outgoing and remarkable person who had the ability to light up any room he walked into. He was an incredible jokester who could make anyone crack a smile, and was the most caring, genuine person you could ever meet. He was a man who would give his last dollar to a stranger without any hesitation and then befriend them for life. Everyone knew and loved Jeff—he had the talent to impact every soul he met. He was the best husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend anyone could ask for.

Services for friends and family will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Iles Grandview Park Chapel on 3211 Hubbell Ave, Des Moines, Iowa 50317. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service.
