Jeffrey Bartusek Obituary

Jeff Bartusek, 57, died Thursday, October 18, 2012, at home from pancreatic cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, October 22, 2012, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery.

Jeff was born in Des Moines on July 6, 1955, graduated from Dowling High School in 1973 and earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Iowa in 1978. He worked for many years as a financial analyst in the Utilities and Banking industries in Las Vegas and Seattle before returning to Des Moines in 2006. Jeff was most recently employed by Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was an avid chess player, tennis and fitness enthusiast, Hawkeye fan and had a passion for barbequing.

Jeff is survived by his children, Jennifer (Cody) Balk of Minneapolis, Sara Bartusek of Las Vegas, and Noel Bartusek of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Lily, Evelyn and Clara Balk; his parents, Robert and Janice Bartusek of Des Moines, brother Mark (Lisa) Bartusek of Alexandria, VA, sister, Mary Bartusek of Urbandale and his sister-in-law, Mary Lynn Bartusek of Urbandale. He was preceded in death by his brother Steve.

The family will receive friends from 4 - 6 p.m. Sunday, October 21, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church where a vigil service will be held at 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Online condolences will be welcomed at IlesCares.com.
