Jerry Leigh Brown, 74, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Everystep Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines, IA. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 PM on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Iles Westover Chapel in Des Moines. A Funeral Service will be held the following day, Friday, September 3, 2021 at Lutheran Church of Hope Ankeny at 10 AM. A graveside service will immediately follow at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

Jerry was born January 10, 1947, in Grimes, IA, to Theodore and Mable (Warren) Brown. He was a graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School, and received his undergraduate from Drake University. He received his Juris Doctorate from Washburn University School of Law. He married Catherine (Sinnwell) Brown on September 28, 1968, and together they raised 3 children. The family moved around various places throughout the Midwest, following Jerry’s career with the Veterans Administration, retiring in September of 1997. Following his first retirement, he attended law school, and began a second career as an attorney, retiring again in 2018.

Jerry was a member of American Bar Association and the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes Fan, and a loyal attendee of the Iowa State Fair, attending every hour of every day he could manage.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Catherine (Sinnwell) Brown; children, April Pottridge, Jerry (Heather) Brown II, and Ann-Marie C. (Cody) Welge; brother, Michael Brown; sister-in-law, Veronica “Virginia” Brown; sister-in-law, Janice “Jan” Warren 9 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; half-brother, Thomas Warren; and brother, Theodore Brown, Jr.
