JoRae Rios Obituary

JoRae Rios passed on November 28, 2024, in Des Moines, Iowa, where she was born. Jo attended East High School and had three children: Stephanie, Timothy, and Shawn. Jo was a homemaker and then went on to work at Allied/Nationwide, Generations, Albertson's, among others, before retiring from Dahl's Foods. She enjoyed assisting many departments and made friends easily. Jo enjoyed spending time with her family and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Jo had an exceptional love for dogs, which brought immense joy to her life. She was a devoted pet parent to several beloved canine companions adopted over the years, each of whom brought laughter and excitement to her home. Jo’s passion for dogs extended beyond her own pets; she often knew the breed and names of customers’ pets and would ask about them often. Her ability to connect with animals, especially dogs, reflected her kindness, empathy, and generous spirit.

Jo will be missed by her sister Sandie (Mark) Quinn, her children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and many loving friends. Jo is preceded in death by her father, Raymond Smith; her mother, Leona Champion; her sister, Diane DeLong; and her brothers, Timothy and Charles. \
