Joe was born to Lucille Farao Hansman and Joe Hansman, Sr. at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, the second of the three sons that blessed their lives. He was taken in a vehicle accident that will leave those that loved him empty of his unique take on life. Funeral services will be held 10 am Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the Basilica of St. John, with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery.

His adventurous spirit took him to Colorado in 1977 where he worked at Climax Molybdemin Mine near Leadville, Colorado and after a few years he returned to Des Moines and followed his father and grandfather in the Dairy business working for 10 years at Prairie Farms Dairy. He moved to Minneapolis in 1988 where he started in the automobile business and became the General Manager of Hasting Automotive, Hastings, MN for another 10 years. In 1998 he brought his family to Menomonie, WI and worked to purchase Menomonie Chrysler Center. The business sold in 2008.

Joe loved golf, pool, and was known as the king of the one liner. He had a special light in his spirit that lives on in his two children, as they were the love of his life.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother Lucille, and brother Micheal. He is survived by his children, Hillary Jo Hansman and Matthew Richmond Hansman, his father, brother Frank (Melanie), nephews Frank, Michael and Jacob Hansman.

Visitation begins after 3pm Monday at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm and a vigil service will be held at 7pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Basilica of St. John Foundation, 1915 University Ave in Des Moines, 50314.
