Joseph was born April 10, 1957 in Poughkeepsie, New York to Joseph and Velma (Linenfelser) Karge. At a young age, the family moved to Morley, Iowa where Joseph later graduated from Anamosa High School, Anamosa, Iowa. He moved to Des Moines, Iowa and attended Drake University, majoring in Political Science and Graduated with a B.S. Degree. He later attended Liberty University where he received his Master’s Degree in Counseling and Ministry.

On February 14, 1986, he was united in marriage to Joreen “Jody” Marie McCoy in Coronado, California. They lived in Des Moines, Iowa (1984-2001), Woodward, Iowa (2001-2008), where Joseph served as Mayor, and then eventually settled at their farm in Dallas Center, Iowa.

Joseph owned and operated Executive Relocation Services from 1984-2001. He then became Senior Pastor of Victory Promise Church, in Woodward and Boone Biblical Church, in Boone, Iowa. He served as the race track chaplain in Boone, Knoxville, Stuart, Newton and Des Moines. He later established two wedding ministries, Our Forever Promise and Fiamma D’Amore, that would allow him to serve at hundreds of weddings and funerals. In addition, Joseph enjoyed performing missionary work in Africa, Russia and Honduras.

Joseph loved his work in the ministry, helping others in any way that he could, spending time on his farm, caring for his animals, and loved spending time with friends and family.
