March 15, 1938 - April 20, 2025

Joseph {Joe} Shalkowski, 87, of Levittown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025.

Born on March 15,1938, in Dixon City, Pennsylvania, Joe was the son of the late Bernard and Lottie Shalkowski. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before embarking on a hardworking career in several factories. In1961, he married the love of his life, Damasia T. Dyda, and together they built a beautiful life rooted in love, devotion, and family.

A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Joe found great joy in coaching his sons, Joseph and Marc, in baseball and basketball, creating memories that lasted a lifetime. A passionate sports fan, he was a lifelong fan of Notre Dame (College football}, the New York Giants (NFL football), the Boston Celtics (NBA Basketball) and the Detroit Tigers (MLB Baseball).

In April 2021, Joe moved to West Des Moines, Iowa, where he cherished spending precious time with many of his great-grandchildren, continuing to build bonds and share stories filled with wisdom and humor.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Damasia; his children Joseph (Joyce) Shalkowski of Austin, Texas, and Marc (Lisa) Shalkowski of West Des Moines, Iowa; his grandchildren Marc (Kathryn) Shalkowski, Derek (Katie) Shalkowski, Ryan Shalkowski, Jessica (Jordan) Wegner, and Julie Shalkowski; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Stacia Adamski of Dixon City, PA, and Frances Sobol of North Tonawanda, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Lottie.

Joe’s life was a shining example of loyalty, dedication, and love. His legacy will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.

A private service will be held for the family.
