Joy M. Parry Obituary

Joy Marie Parry, aged 65, passed away on November 7, 2024, in Johnston, Iowa. Born on October 25, 1959, Joy's vibrant spirit and loving nature touched many lives throughout her years.

Joy grew up in Pocahontas, Iowa, where she attended Pocahontas High School. She later pursued her passion for healthcare at the Mercy Medical School of Radiology. For over 33 years, Joy worked as a Radiation Oncology Dosimetrist at the John Stoddard Cancer Center in Des Moines.

Known for her loving, caring, and fun personality, Joy was always up for a good time. Whether it was a dance party in the kitchen or a bags tournament in the backyard, she always wanted to have fun with the ones she loved. Her hobbies included camping, biking, creating stained glass pieces and watercolor paintings. Joy was a lifelong biker and did RAGBRAI for over 20 years.

She leaves behind her life-long best friend, her beloved husband, Don Parry; son, Ben Parry and his wife, Sarah, along with their children Clavey and Josiah; daughter, Lindsay Wilson and her children Winter and River; sisters, Jill Lawler, Jane Happe, and Judy Chavez; and brother, Jack Fischer. Joy was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Mary Jane Fischer, and nephews, Travis Fischer and Ryan Chavez.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 23, 2024, from 12pm to 4pm at the Johnston Lions Club, where friends and family will gather to honor her memory and legacy. Joy's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the joy of living each day to the fullest. Her light and love will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew her.
