Joyce Rash Obituary

Joyce Lee Rash, 82, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on April 20, 2025.

Joyce was born and raised in Forsyth, Montana, and went on to live in various parts of the country throughout her life. She also enjoyed traveling abroad, always curious to learn more about the world. A devoted educator, she spent 39 years as a public school teacher, touching the lives of countless students with her dedication and care.

She was a longtime member of Union Park Presbyterian Church in Des Moines, where she found both faith and friendship.

Joyce is survived by her brother Jim Phillips; her son Rick Rockhold and daughter-in-law Kim Rockhold; and her grandson Luke Rockhold, of whom she was immensely proud.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, at Union Park Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Food Bank of Iowa, in Joyce’s memory.
