Judith E. Hemingson Obituary

Judith E. Hemingson, 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday, September 1, 2025. A service will be held at 3pm, Friday, September 5, 2025 at Iles Grandview Park Chapel, 3211 Hubbell Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. Following the service her family will be gathering at Scottish Rite Park (in the Penthouse) 2909 Woodland Avenue, Des Moines from 5-10pm.

Judith was born on May 28, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa to Fred and Colista (Elliott) Hensley. She graduated from Saydel High School and went on to Broadlawns School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for almost 40 years.

In 1968, she met Dale Hemingson. They married in 1969, and started a family. Two daughters, one house and countless vacations later, they saw 50 states and 4 countries.

Judy’s hobbies included shopping, finding the best pie and ice cream wherever her adventures took her, and spending time with those she loved.

Judy is survived by her daughters, Crystal (Bryan) Farlow and Carrie (Tim) McCollum; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three sisters, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dale.
