Obituary

Julie Murphy Stutzman, 38, left this life with grace and dignity on Saturday, September 19, 2009 following a courageous battle with breast cancer. Her family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to her family.

Julie was born in Osage, IA on June 4, 1971 to Delbert and Carol (Williams) Murphy. She grew up in Des Moines then moved to Riverside, CA. After graduating from high school in 1989 she returned to Des Moines. She and her husband, Luke, have lived in Adel with their son, Trey since 2004.

Julie helped shape the lives of many children and families with her work in childcare. She was first a nanny then owned her own childcare centers including Busy Bee's in Waukee. She is a member of Waukee Baptist Church, the Amazing Women's Group for cancer survivors and a Childcare Provider's Group. Julie enjoyed camping, music, attending concerts and reading. She loved spending time with family and friends.

Those left to cherish Julie's memory include her husband, Luke and son, Trey of Adel; mother, Carol Williams Murphy of Waukee; father, Del Murphy of Riverside, CA; four sisters, Michele (Chris) Walkup of MI, Jennifer (Chuck) Den Ouden of Waukee, Jamie (Gheorghe) Samu and Jodi Murphy of CA; two brothers, Ryan of WA and Ruben (April) of CA; grandparents, Ira and Virginia Murphy of Des Moines; great aunt, Bernice Lee of Altoona; uncle, Ken (Marie) Murphy of Des Moines; aunt, Jean (Obie) Lanier of FL; five cousins, Ashlie Lanier, David and Dennis Mohler, Ken, Jr. and Kane Murphy; father-in-law, John (Sandy) Stutzman; mother-in-law, Claudia Stutzman; two brothers-in-law, Chad (Jennifer) and Shawn (Heather) Stutzman; sister-in-law, Chance (Arren) Dorman; and Sarah Dannaman.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Earl and Mernie Williams; aunt, Allene Mohler, and cousin, David Lanier.
The inspiration and happiness Julie brought to everyone came from her belief in God's plan for her life. She truly carried God's light to others.
