Kathleen Zuehlk Obituary

Kathleen K. Zuehlk, 69, of Des Moines died Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center. Private family services were held.

Kathy was born in Knoxville, IL on January 7, 1943 to Theodore and Lilah (Thurman) West. She grew up in the Illinois towns of Knoxville, Abingdon, Victoria and Galesburg. She moved to Des Moines twenty years ago and was retired from her work as a retail manager. Kathy was skilled at needlework. She enjoyed flower gardening and her dogs. She will be remembered as a loving, strong, steadfast woman.

Kathy was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Robert of Des Moines; her loving dog, Spike; four daughters, Susan Calkins of Wataga, IL, Kimberly Weate of Celebration, FL, Kathleen Adams of Sugar Grove, NC and Maria Strom of Monmouth, IL; three step-children, Dawn Zuehlk and Linda Piles of New Hudson, MI and Robert Zuehlk II of Rochester Hills, MI; two sisters, Trudy Coe and Sharon Munson; six grandchildren; nine step- grandchildren and two step- great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Carol Davis and Deborah Grawey; and brother, Theodore West.
