Kathryn (Kay) Wishart, 89, a resident of Calvin Community, passed away from heart failure Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Her body has been donated to the University of Iowa and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 19 at Douglas Avenue Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member.

Kay was born December 7, 1916 in Gladbrook, Iowa, the daughter of Alex and Emma Rehder. She was raised on the family farm just outside Gladbrook. Kay was a graduate of the University of Iowa where she was affiliated with the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. On June 30, 1940 Kay married Wayne Wishart in Gladbrook. They first made their home in Ames where Wayne practiced dentistry before opening a practice in Urbandale. Kay resided and raised her family in Urbandale and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was an active member in her church and a 50 year member of the LA Chapter of PEO. Blessed with many close friends, Kay was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne and two brothers, Don and Nelson Rehder. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her children; John (Kathy) Wishart of Monument, CO, Jim Wishart of Colorado Springs, CO, Jane (Bill) Kennedy of Dover, NH, Mary (Ron) Hintz of Urbandale and Bob Wishart of Omaha, NE; and her grandchildren; John Patrick Wishart, David Wishart, Judy Kennedy, Doug Kennedy, David Hintz and Jonathan Hintz.

Memorials may be made to Douglas Avenue Presbyterian Church.
