Kathy Schaefer Logsdon Obituary

Kathy Schaefer Logsdon, 71, died Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at her home in Urbandale. There will be a Celebration of Kathy’s Life held 2:00 pm Friday, January 27th at Iles Westover Chapel where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Kathy was born July 23, 1951 in Centerville, Iowa to Jim and Frieda (Burton) Schaefer. The family moved to Osceola where she lived until going to college. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Central College in Pella, and her Master’s Degree from Middlebury College in Vermont. Kathy worked for Pioneer for over 40 years before retiring in 2015. An avid musician, Kathy played multiple instruments and was active in several musical groups in central Iowa.

Survivors include her son: James (Andrea) Logsdon of Urbandale; grandchildren: Charlee, Julien, and Ripley; stepchildren: John (Julie Meachen) Logsdon, Jr. of Beaverdale, Beth (Craig) Logsdon Deen of Ft. Worth, TX; brother, Jim (Sherry Boyd) Schaefer, Jr. of Indianapolis, IN. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents.
