Betty Kay (Tuttle) Dinkla was born May 7, 1940 in Minburn, Iowa to parents, Robert and Louise (Renshaw) Tuttle. She graduated from Grimes High School in 1957. She worked as an administrative assistant at the Iowa Air National Guard and Pioneer Hi-Bred. On May 14, 1976, she was united in marriage to Daryl Dinkla in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They made their home in Urbandale.

Katie loved being a mother, to her daughter, Shelly and a loving step mother to Laurie and Brenda and a grandma. She enjoyed shopping, traveling and volunteering at the Blue Ribbon Foundation, Lutheran Hospital, her church and senior center in Urbandale. She loved to have fun and give gifts that included a little note to make people smile. You never knew what you were going to get from Katie. She had a heart for the elderly, helping whenever she could.

Katie was a long-time member of Assembly of God Church. She participated in Evangelism Explosion, Operation Christmas Child, Seasoned Saints trips, went on several mission trips and visited Israel several times. She was a very strong Christian, not imposing, but sharing her faith with others.

Katie is survived by her husband, Daryl; daughter, Shelly (Dan) Swank; grandson, Joshua (Michelle) Geneser and great granddaughter, Mabel; step daughters, Laurie (Kim) Hodne and Brenda Boston; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; siblings, Karen Frost, Keith (Connie) Tuttle; sister-in-law, Jayne Tuttle Pence (Arlan); as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jim and Gerald Tuttle; brother-in-law, Jerry Frost and nephews, James “Jimmy” Tuttle, Jr., and Donald Tuttle.

For those unable to attend, the service will be live streamed. The link will be available on Katie’s obituary page at www.IlesCares.com where you may also leave online condolences.

Katie was a Class Act who will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved her.
