Obituary

Keely Alison Niemeyer, 40, passed away unexpectedly at home on February 8, 2025. Visitation for friends and family will be held from 6-8pm, Monday, February 17, 2025 at Iles Westover Chapel, 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines. Funeral Services will be held at 1pm, Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Iles Westover Chapel. Interment at East Lawn Cemetery, Bladen, Nebraska at a later date.

Keely was born in Big Bear, California on January 8, 1985 to William and Paulene (Ellis) Wilkinson. She grew up in Forest Falls, California and graduated from Redlands High School in 2003. She received her associates degree from Crafton Hills College and her bachelor and Master degrees in 2016, in public health from California State University in San Bernardino, California. She married her high school sweetheart, Brent Niemeyer on July 7, 2007 in Redlands, California. They lived in Yucaipa, California until 2021, when they moved to Urbandale, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with the birth of their daughter, Scarlett, on February 11, 2009.

Keely used her skills gained from college to help others manage their chronic diseases through better nutrition. She worked in Palm Springs and Yucaipa, California in clinical settings and taught courses online to people around the country.

Keely was baptized in 2007 at Trinity EFC in Redlands, California. She was a member of Hilltop Church in Waukee, Iowa, where she was a member of the Sisterhood Women’s Group and the Crews small group.

Her hobbies included crochet, art, online video games and she loved spending time with her husband and daughter. She loved all animals, especially cats and had several pet dogs, cats and chinchillas. She loved to ride her motorcycle on fair weather days and otherwise enjoyed the comfort of her Cadillac. Her favorite food was anything breakfast, especially French toast and enjoyed a fresh latte from 7brew.

Keely is survived by her husband, Brent and daughter, Scarlett of Urbandale, Iowa; mother, Paulene Wilkinson of Zanesville, Ohio; grandmother, Donna Aguirre; siblings, Eric Wilkinson, Tanzy Colasanti, Cassy Hershberger, Poppy Anderson, Damien Wilkinson, Tegan Wilkinson and Heidi Sheridon; parents-in-law, Duane and Linda Niemeyer of Hastings, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Krystal Niemeyer as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her father, William Wilkinson; her brother, Ronnie Colasanti and a brother-in-law, Michael Niemeyer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Des Moines Christian School Scholarship Fund (in memo please write for Keely Niemeyer), 13007 Douglas Pkwy, Urbandale, IA 50323, where Scarlett is attending.
