Obituary

Kenneth Paul Bach, 70 of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 Ken came into the world on his mom's birthday (best present ever) on October 11, 1954 in Waukesha WI. He was the son of Arthur and Doris (Menick) Bach. He was the 4th out of 5 kids and part of a large extended family. He grew up in the town of Waukesha and maintained many of his friendships from childhood until his death.

He graduated from Catholic Memorial High School in 1972. After a small stint at University of Stevens Point and the University of Wisconsin Madison, he graduated with his Associate Degree in Mechanical Design from Waukesha County Technical Institute in 1985.

Ken and Sue were united in marriage in 1986, and at this time Ken joined Metalsource, Inc. which transferred them to Chicago where they lived for 3 years and had their first born, Molly Doris in 1989. Ken continued his career joining Acme Steel and was promoted to outside Sales Manager which brought them to Des Moines in 1990; a short year later where they had their second daughter Annie Armstrong. Ken finished his career at Ankeny Golf and Country Club, where he was a Bar Manager and retired after 22 years in 2020.

Ken and Sue's marriage was one of friendship, love and partnership in all aspects of their lives. They enjoyed traveling in their Camper Van, which they built with alot of help from Youtube University. He also enjoyed canoeing with his lifetime friends "bros"; campfires, Astronomy and all things space related. In his sparetime, Ken enjoyed watching all Wisconsin sports, especially the Brewers and the Packers. He also became a big women's basketball fan (college and Pro). He got to see his favorite teams (South Carolina Gamecocks and the Minnesota Lynx). Ken's baseball knowledge was vast and he loved live baseball so much that they attended games at 17 of the 30 baseball stadiums. He truly loved spending time with family and friends especially traveling to Denver and Kansas City to visit their daughters. He was an avid music fan and especially loved the Beatles (even making a trip to Liverpool to see the Cavern Club). His knowledge for trivia was unmatched and he loved playing any games with nieces, nephews and Marge. Truly, his most precious gift was that he could always make you smile and he was known for his quick-wit, laugh and always giving meaning and value to those around him.

Ken will be greatly missed by his family and friends and especially his daughters Molly and Annie, and wife, Sue.
Ken is survived by his two brothers, Steve and Jim and sister Ann (Becky). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister, Kris.

A memorial gathering will be held at Iles Westover Chapel on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 3-6 pm.

In lieu of flowers, family would appreciate donations made to the Food Bank of Iowa and/or the American Cancer Society in Ken's name.
