Obituary

Larry Eugene Tuttle, 79, passed away on February 1 at Veterans Hospital (Hospice) in Des Moines after a lengthy battle with cancer. The son of Clarence A. and Clara M. (Volkman) Tuttle, he was born on July 9, 1943 in Corydon, Iowa. He attended Chariton High School and was in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1964. On February 26, 1966, Larry was united in marriage to Linda Kay Ward in Princeton, MO. To this union two children were born, David and Darrin. Larry worked for 39 years at Iron Workers Local #67 in Des Moines since 1966 in several positions and served as their Financial Secretary Treasurer/Business Manager from 1987 until his retirement in 2005.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, traveling, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, working on vehicles, welders and generators, vegetable gardening, feeding his fish, filling his bird feeders, working around his “estate”, riding around his estate on his Polaris Ranger, and spending time with his family.

His legacy will be cherished by his wife, Linda; his children, David (Melissa) Tuttle of Norwalk and Darrin Tuttle of Norwalk; his five grandchildren, Nicholas, William, Jack, Brooklyn and Anissa; 1 great grandchild, Silvanna; his siblings, Marilyn Tuttle of Pelican Rapids, MN, Carol (Ron) Offenburger of Glendale, AZ and Sharon (Bruce) Halsted of Lexington, KY; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his faithful, loving dogs - Puffy, Goldie, Shadow and Heather.

Visitation will be 1-4 p.m., Saturday, February 11 at Iles Norwalk Chapel, immediately followed by a graveside service at Norwalk Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society.
