Linda Kay Deatsch Obituary

Linda Kay Deatsch, 62, passed away on April 7, 2023 at Methodist-Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluff, Iowa. Through her passing, Linda was able to give the gift of life to two others by donating her kidneys.

Linda was born March 22, 1961 in Des Moines, Iowa to Eugene and Carolyn (Garner) Deatsch. She graduated from Urbandale High School. Following graduation, Linda attended classes at Des Moines Community College.

Linda lived the last 15 years of her life in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and it was during her time there that Linda really flourished. She was a resident of the REM Adult Independent Living Program. She also attended Trivium’s Adult Day Hab program where she made many friends and enjoyed participating in activities such as bowling, miniature golf, and seeing movies. And, she loved her part-time work at Share the Ware Thrift Store and Culver’s.

Linda is survived by her mother, Carolyn Deatsch, sister, Cheri Deatsch, brother, Tom (Alynn) Deatsch, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, a nephew, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Her father, Eugene Deatsch, preceded her in death.

Linda’s favorite things in life were her faith, singing hymns, taking walks, talking on the phone every day with her boyfriend of thirty years, Mike, and spending time with family and friends. She never missed a broadcast of a Cubs or a Vikings game.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 5-7 pm Friday, April 14, 2023 at Westover Funeral Home. At 6:45 pm, there will be a prayer service and singing of Linda’s favorite hymns. In honor of Linda’s favorite color, it is requested that attendees please wear purple.
