Obituary

Lucille Rose Medici, 87, passed away on December 7, 2025, in Marengo, Iowa. Family will receive guests from 5:00-7:00p.m on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Granger Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the church. Lucy will be interred beside her husband, Robert, in Lincoln Cemetery following services. The service will be livestreamed on Lucy's page at Ilescares.com.

Lucy was born on November 19, 1938, in Farlin, Iowa, to Claire and Ruth (DeSart) White. She graduated from Granger High School in 1957 and did not waste any time getting started on her future. She married Robert Medici in 1958, and together they had four children in the first five years. Those were busy years filled with love and a lot of homemade clothes. (Lucy sewed most of them herself.)

While raising her kids, Lucy worked as a homemaker and often helped take care of other children too. As the family got older, she stepped into new jobs, such as typing, waitressing at Matt’s Steakhouse in Madrid, and working in the dorms at Grand View College. Eventually she became a CNA at Broadlawns Hospital, a job where her strong will and big heart made a real difference.

Lucy later moved to Florida, where she continued doing what she did best: helping people. She worked with individuals with disabilities, teaching them everyday skills like cooking and shopping so they could live more independently. After retiring, she still kept busy, volunteering at her church, the senior center, and helping people who were homeless.

Lucy was strong, stubborn, and incredibly independent. She even drove herself to her own cancer treatments. She was an excellent cook and was especially famous for her Christmas cookies. And she loved a good game of bingo.

She is survived by her children: Deborah (Larry) Medici-Feick, Cathy (Paul) Baker, Angela (Ken) Medici-Burnham, and Robert (Cindy) Medici Jr.; grandchildren: Misty Baker, Chad (Lacie) Baker, Benjamin (RuthAnne) Feick, Bradley (Abby) Feick, and Robert Medici III; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; sisters, Joyce Harless and Carol June Herrold; and a grandson, Andrew Roger Medici.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Lucy’s name can be directed to Essence of Life Hospice.
