Madaline was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1915 on a farm in Jefferson, Iowa to Arthur and Ethel Grimes. In Des Moines, Madaline worked for GMAC and while setting up a new office in Davenport, Iowa she met Edward L. Langwith. They were married January 16, 1942. When Edward was drafted later that year, Madaline returned to Des Moines and began working for the U.S. Treasury, retiring in 1979 with 36 years of service. Not one to sit around, she opened her own shop, Madaline's Gifts and Antiques, which she ran for 21 years until a heart attack forced her to close it in 2000.

Madaline was a long time member of First Christian Church in Des Moines and was active in the Pilot Club of Des Moines. She loved to bowl and traveled all over the United States to bowling tournaments. In later years she enjoyed playing BINGO and she loved to win!

Madaline was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents and her brother, John Grimes. She is survived by, sisters-in-law, Mary Grimes of California and Rovene Langwith of Johnston; niece, Sharon McCain of California; nephews, John Langwith of Milan, Illinois, Dr. Dennis Langwith, of Des Moines, Gary Langwith of Ankeny and Warren Langwith of Johnston and her cousin, Sarah Gittins of Perry, Iowa.
