Marcia Kirkeby Obituary

Marcia Ann (Hickie) Kirkeby, 80, of Des Moines passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, March 10, 2023. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, March 24, 2023 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Iles Westover Chapel.
Cremation will follow the visitation.

Services, also at Iles Westover Chapel, will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 10:30am. Funeral procession to Glendale Cemetery, to follow services.

Marcia was born on January 20, 1943 to Clay and Louise (Snook) Hickie in Des Moines, where she grew up. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1960. She was united in marriage with John Kirkeby on October 21, 1967, in Des Moines where they resided for several years. Then moved to Waukee where they operated Saddle Lite Stables. After selling Saddle Lite Stables, they owned rental properties, until she retired.

She was a lover of horses and her dog Rocket. She loved watching the Chicago Cubs and all sports. She enjoyed riding her bike and going to plays. She was also a member of the Des Moines Women's Club.

Survivors include her son Paul (Dee Ann) Kirkeby and granddaughter Raiyn. Nephew Rob (Chris) Hughes and their children Sarah and Aaron. Also many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband John, brother Gary, both parents and grandparents.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Broadway Presbyterian Church 209 W Broadway, Sedalia, MO 65301 and/or Des Moines Women's Club.
