Margaret Scott Obituary

Margaret Scott passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

She was born on June 21st, 1938 to Harry Douglas Minor and Owana Margaret Minor in Riceville, IA. Margaret spent her childhood helping on the family farm, and especially cherished accompanying her father to watch the sunrise on her horse Babe.

Margaret graduated from Riceville High School in 1956. She met her husband in January of 1959 and went on to have 5 children before settling down in Des Moines, IA. Margaret had a lifelong career in insurance, and spent 23 years at IMT before retiring to have more time to spend with her family.

Margaret is survived by her children, Cindy Bentley, Mike Scott, Doug (Shelly) Scott, and Dave Scott; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Scott, her daughter Becky Haltom, and her granddaughter Amy Scott.

A memorial gathering will be held at Iles Westover Chapel on Tuesday, December 3 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. A private interment will take place at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, IA.
