Marilyn Gean Anderson passed away on November 4, 2023, at the age of 93. All who knew her are welcome to join in a celebration of her life which will be held at Iles Westover Funeral Home, 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines November 18th from 11:00 to 1:00 with a light lunch being served. A burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.

Marilyn was born in Des Moines to Genevieve Marie Wolf (nee McMichael) and Merrill Wolf on July 3rd, 1930. Marilyn grew up in Des Moines where she attended Roosevelt High School. Marilyn took business courses at Drake University where she met Harley George Hoyt. They were married on November 17, 1951. Together they had 5 children; Patricia Lynne Earll (Terry), Michael John Hoyt (Tami), Barbara Gean Morris (Mike), Ellen Marie Drumheller (Mark) and Carol Hoyt Peterson (Greg).

Marilyn is survived by all her children and Harley's daughter Georgia Gooch (Dan), from a previous marriage and Tom’s daughter Jill Anderson Moore (Tim). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Marilyn's brother, Leonard Wolf preceded her in death on January 5, 2012. She is survived by Leonard's children, Vergean Ward (Jim), Judi Malone (Steve) and Janis Wolf Goad (Denny).

Marilyn and Harley lived 20 years in Urbandale Iowa, where they raised their family. In April 1973 Harley passed away. In 1981, Marilyn married Thomas Anderson. They had been married for 24 years. Marilyn's early years were spent enjoying music and taking dance lessons. She was deeply loved by her family and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed playing cards with her friends. She loved her 3:00 coffee with the neighbors before the kids got home from school.

We would like to thank the staff at Regency Care Center in Norwalk and St. Croix Hospice of Iowa for the loving care they gave mom.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to St. Croix Hospice of Iowa, 1555 SE Delaware, Suite Q, Ankeny, IA 50021
