Obituary

Marilyn Thielenhaus, 68, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines, IA, after a long fight against cancer. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines. Services will be held 10:30 am Friday, May 26, 2023, at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery, DSM, IA in Des Moines, Iowa.

Marilyn was born May 1, 1955, in Ottumwa, IA, to Henry and Mary (Carmody) Conway. She graduated from Albia High School. After high school Marilyn went to Marycrest College for one year, and graduated from Iowa State University. She met her husband, Ronald Thielenhaus in Kansas City. Together, they had three children: Christopher, Kevin, and Erich. The two were married for 22 years.

Marilyn was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed.

Marilyn loved to paint, spreading her joy of art to the community. She was a devoted grandmother and doted on the new members of her family. She was well-travelled, and made many lasting friendships across the country. Her uncommon generosity and kindness will be remembered by those that loved her.

Marilyn is survived by her three sons, Erich Thielenhaus, Kevin Thielenhaus, Christopher (Jaime) Thielenhaus; two grandchildren, Elsie Thielenhaus, Thomas Thielenhaus; four sisters, Marge Moore, Mary Kay (Jim) Flahive, Martha Kuhl, Diane Conway; two brothers, Jim (Evelyn) Conway, Mark (Patricia) Conway; two sister-in-law’s, Sue Conway, Denise Conway; brother-in-law, Dave Thielenhaus; She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Eugene Thielenhaus, father, Henry Conway, mother, Mary Conway, brothers, Charles Conway, Pat Conway, brother-in-law’s, Jim Kuhl, Al Moore.
