Obituary

Mark G. Kramer was born April 19, 1956, he was 69 years old.

Mark was born in North Platte, Nebraska at St. Mary’s Hospital. Mark did not live there very long. Shortly after his birth, they moved to Kansas City, Missouri.

Mark lived a great deal of his youth in Kansas City. He went to Marillac Catholic School in Kansas City.

Mark decided to pursue his dream of riding bareback horses in the rodeo’s. He wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps. He moved from Kansas City back to Nebraska to ride during his last two years in high school. Mark was a gifted rider; he won many awards during his years in the high school rodeo scene. He loved every moment he rode.

After his high school rodeo riding ended, he decided to go to Waxahachie, Texas to a Christian college where he wanted to study for the seminary. Mark completed his junior year then moved back to Kansas City. He lived there for the next 20 years, taking numerous jobs.

Mark then moved to Des Moines to join his family to live out the rest of his life. Mark loved reading history books and the bible. He had a great love for music and playing his guitar.

Mark was proceeded in death by his father, Gene Kramer; brother, James Kramer and all his grandparents. He is survived by his mother, Janet Power West Des Moines; sisters, Mary Henss and husband Tom of Urbandale, and Ann Lasswell of Urbandale, as well as many nephews and lots of cousins.

Mark passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, at UnityPoint Iowa Methodist Hospital, Des Moines, from heart failure. Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Oak Wood Cemetery in Pella, Iowa. A Celebration of life will follow at his sister, Mary's home in Urbandale, IA.
