Marlene was born at home in Imogene, Iowa on February 25, 1945 to Joseph and Mary (Head) Laughlin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerome “Jerry” Hahn; brothers Paul Laughlin and John (Jackie) Laughlin; brother-in-law Robert (Barbara) Walters, nephew John (Lisa) Walters, and nephew Nathan Coleman.

Marlene attended St. Patrick’s Academy in Imogene until 3rd grade, when her parents decided to move their family to Omaha, Nebraska. She attended St. Pete’s and St. John’s elementary schools. She then won a scholarship to Notre Dame Academy, where she graduated in 1963 with honors and valued her education there throughout her lifetime. She went on to attend nursing school at Creighton Memorial St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, graduating in 1966.

After graduation, she worked in adult mental health at St. Joseph’s Hospital. In 1967, she married Jerome “Jerry” Hahn on August 5. She retired in 2011, having contributed several positive changes to adult mental health.

Some of her hobbies were gardening and antique shopping. She loved reading and listening to audio books and podcasts.
