Marlyn Janette Sprecher, 67, passed from this life on Friday, November 2, 2007 following a courageous battle with cancer at Boone County Hospital Hospice, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, at Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Madrid. Burial will follow at Squire-Boone Cemetery, northwest of Luther.

The daughter of Nolan and Beulah (Carter) Harris, Marlyn was born February 29, 1940 in Edina, MO. Marlyn was a graduate of United Community High School. On July 10, 1959, she was united in marriage to Larry Sprecher, and to this union one son, Brian was born. Marlyn was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Madrid.

Marlyn enjoyed working as a waitress at the Town and Country Café in Madrid, where she gave the Madrid news each morning on KWBG Radio. She was an exceptional waitress, her customers were her friends. She loved riding the motorcycle with her husband Larry and they traveled out west on many vacations. She enjoyed shopping and collecting porcelain angels.

She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Larry; son, Brian Sprecher of Luther; one grandson, Clayton (Megan Wilcox) Sprecher of Boone; mother, Beulah Harris of Madrid; sister, Faye Carlson and her children, Gregg, Deanna and Marla all of Madrid; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harlan and Marla Sprecher, sister-in-law, Loris Sprecher and mother-in-law, Elsie Sprecher all of Boone; and brother-in-law, Kevin (Cindi) Sprecher of Ogden. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of loving friends. Marlyn was preceded in death by her father, Nolan Harris and father-in-law, Ted Sprecher.

Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. on Monday, November 5, at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Iowa Hospice – Boone Team.
