Martin Monroe Ellis, beloved husband of Joan, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Thursday at Mercy Medical Center after a long battle with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia. He attended Grandview Park Baptist Church.

Marty was a very pleasant man who had countless friends who loved to work, hunt and fish with him. He always had time to be a friend. Until recently he worked for Sarah and Andrew Trucking as a side-dump/end-dump truck driver.

Marty was born in Osceola on July 11, 1936. His parents Tony and Beulah Ellis preceded him in death many years ago and last year his sister, Jenine Brannon went home to be with the Lord.

He leaves behind those who will cherish his memory, his wife, Joan; his children, Tony, John, and Don Ellis and Dee Dee Rankin all of Des Moines, Beth Gerlach of Ladera Ranch, CA and Julie Willoughby of Des Moines; his grandchildren, Erika Major, Jill and Amber Ellis, Jason and Christy Gerlach, Mike and Matt Trotter and great-grandson, Andrew Gerlach as well as his brother, Marion Bud Brannon of Osceola.

Visitation will be after 9 a.m., Sunday with the family receiving friends from 2 to 5 p.m. at Grandview Funeral Home and graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday at the North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge, IA. Contributions may be made to the family who will use them for a memorial for Marty.

We will miss him so much.
