Obituary

Marvin H. Radden, 87, died Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Iles Funeral Homes-Grandview Park Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home followed by burial at Berwick Cemetery.

Marvin grew up near Irwin, IA and lived in Des Moines for over 60 years. He was a retired Chief Boatswain’s Mate for the U.S. Navy. Early in his Navy service Marvin was injured during the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served through World War II retiring after twenty years of active duty and ten years of reserve duty. He then worked for the U. S. Postal service retiring after twenty years. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and was an expert flower gardener. He loved spending time with his family.

Marvin is survived by two daughters, Sherrill (Greg) Anderson and Cathy (Bill) Campbell of Des Moines; son, Marvin T. (Carol) Radden of Altoona; sister, Helen
Van Asselt of Irwin, thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; son, Ed; brother Pershing and sister, Ruby Desbien.
