Mr. Marvin "Ike" Iverson, 81, of Des Moines, died of cancer, Friday, March 3, 2006 at InTrust Hospice Taylor House. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2006 at Union Park Baptist Church. Burial will be at Laural Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.

Marvin was born in Dolliver, Iowa and lived in Des Moines for 55 years. He was a retired assistant city attorney for the City of Des Moines. Marvin was a Army Air Corps Vet and a POW of World War II. He was active in the American Legion Post 60 for 30 years, a past member of Za Ga Zig Shrine, and Des Moines Musicians Association. He enjoyed playing and collecting musical instruments, an avid reader, loved dogs, enjoyed gardening, was a mechanic who enjoyed repairing motorcycles, and fixing broken items.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Harriett "Penny" Iverson of Des Moines; four sons, Eric (Janeth) Iverson of Jackson Heights, NY, Larry (Rose) Miller of Des Moines, Terry (Theresa) Miller of Altoona, and Rick (Patricia) Miller of Swan, Iowa; three daughters, Karen Iverson of Virginia Beach, VA, Valerie (Charles) Wedgeworth of Des Moines, and Vickie (Denny) Danford of Urbandale; nine grandchildren, Christine, Madelyn, John, Jesse, Larry, Jr., Robert, Michelle, Jen, and Cordell; and ten great-grandchildren. Marvin is preceded in death by two sons, Forest and Paul Iverson.

Visitation is one hour prior to service at the church with family present. Arrangements are through Grandview Park Funeral Home.
