Marvin Leibow, 90, of Des Moines, passed away Saturday, April 9, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center of pneumonia. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, April 11, at Jewish Glendale Cemetery.

Marvin was born June 15, 1914. He married Marcella Malin in 1948. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the Army during World War II and was the owner and operator of Marvin's Food Shop on Hull Avenue in Des Moines.

Marvin was a member of Tifereth Israel Synagogue. He volunteered at the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center, working in the snack shop where he became a resident of the facility in August of 2004.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Marcella Leibow of Des Moines; sisters-in-law, Esther Leibow of Des Moines and Sara Daitch of Southfield, MI; and five nephews, Larry (Vannie) Leibow of Des Moines, Michael (Lana) Leibow of AZ, Dr. Jay (Sharon) Daitch of West Bloomfield, MI, Michael (Beverly) Daitch of Las Vegas, NV, and Leonard Daitch of Plymouth, MI.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Leibow; and a brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Daitch.
