Obituary

Marvin “Buddy” Welsher was born May 3, 1944, and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the age of 81.

Marv was a testament to his faith and a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He not only devoted his life to Christ, but his home was used to spread the gospel and was open to many in need. He loved doing bible studies for friends and family in his home over the years. On his wedding ring he had engraved Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Marv had such a great sense of humor, was a bit ornery and was a fun jokester. He enjoyed owning and working on muscle cars. He also collected and restored antique clocks.

Marv loved his family fiercely, he was a loving husband, cherished his brothers and sisters, was a devoted father and adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was born and raised in Des Moines, IA, but loved to travel.

Marv is now at peace in the arms of his Savior, and we find comfort in the promise of eternal life.

Marvin was preceded in death by his cherished daughter, Christine Marie Welsher; parents, Eva Fetters and Eugene Welsher; brothers, Rod Welsher, Jimmy Turner and sister, Vicky Turner (Mayner).

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Evelyn Welsher. He is lovingly remembered by his four brothers and sisters; Rick Turner, Mark Welsher, Sharon Stanely (Welsher) and Lolita Turner (Wells). He is cherished by his three children, Rodney Welsher (Cindy), Tammy Mead (Steve) and James Welsher (Tracey). He adored his nine grandchildren, Kathleen Daithi (Welsher), Jasmine Rowan (Welsher), Jeanelle Caulfield (Welsher), Robert (Mitchel) Davis, Peter Mead, Jackie Mead, Anna Frost (Mead), Shane Welsher and Shayden Welsher. He will be missed by his three great grandchildren, Julian, Alister and Dom. He is also cherished by his nephew, Dillon Gast and lovingly remembered by Ron and Leisa Curtis. He will be dearly missed by so many nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.

A memorial service will be held at 6pm, Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Iles Grandview Park Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Taylor house hospice. Online condolences are welcome at www.IlesCares.com.
